Hope Builds Godly Kids

Parenting is difficult

1. What Kids need:

  • God confidence
  • Godly character
  • Godly conviction

2. What Parents need:

  • Belief
  • Belief, in the power of being a Godly parent
  • Belief, that you are the greatest influence on your kid/not culture.

“Children are a gift from the Lord they are a reward from Him. How happy is the man ,how happy is the woman, how happy is the family, whose quiver is full of them.”

Psalm 127

“He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in His arms He said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me doesn’t just welcome Me but the one who sent Me.”

Mark 9 :36

3. WHAT IS YOUR OBJECTIVE IN RAISNG YOUR KIDS OR GRANDKIDS ?

GOOD AND MORAL VS. GODLY

  • The gospel is not about making bad people moral, It is about making dead people alive.
  • Point: We end up teaching the wrong thing because we have the wrong objectives.
  • Question to ponder:
    • Do you teach your kids to be good because of the bible?
    • Do you teach your kids that they will never be good without Christ’s offer of grace

“What we need is kids who fully grasp the reality that they have nothing to offer, but know a God who has everything they need

Have we blown it? Have I mixed in a little bit of God, what now?

  • Clarify your parenting goals
  • do you want to raise fully devoted followers of Jesus? really?
  • Adopt a theology of life Change
  • God came to make dead kids live, not good
  • Help your Kids fall in Love with Jesus
  • hey will only go as far as you are
  • Teach your kids to submit to God as you do everyday
  • Goal of being a follower of Jesus is to make His name great, not mine, not my happiness

4. Ask Jesus to help you control your anger

“A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.”

Prov. 29:11

“Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.”

James 1:19

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Pr. 15:1

“Do not use harmful words in talking. Use only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide What is needed”

Ephesians 4:29
