Passover Elements Vs. Last Supper

4. Food Served (Greens, Celery, Parsley and Salt Water)

  • Challenge: you don’t really know the joy of salvation until you remember what it is you’ve been saved from.
  • Maror = bitter root. Haroset = sweet sauce
  • Symbol = Egypt with the sweetness of the Promised Land flowing with milk and with honey.
  • Bread is brought out : It is unleavened bread. It’s called matzah,This bread was unleavened— Yeast represented sin so no yeast that’s why its flat . Why is it called Passover?

5. The 4 glasses of Passover (Exodus 6)

6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and
with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8 And I
will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’”

Exodus 6
  1. It is this promise of God to save them from Egypt. So that first cup is called “the cup of salvation.”
  2. “I will free you from being slaves to them.” This is celebrated with a second cup of wine known as “the cup of deliverance.” God had delivered them from slavery.
  3. “And I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.” So the
third cup of wine, known as “the cup of redemption,” was celebrating the promise of God to
redeem through mighty acts of judgment.
  4. “I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.” So the fourth cup of wine was called “the cup of praise
