Being Who God Made You to Be: Joy

Impact Christian Church https://www.impactfranklin.com

Joy is an emotional state—of gratitude, pleasure, and genuine satisfaction that transcends our circumstances and overflows in worship.

Joy Killers

David: Root yourself in the presence of God.

Psalm 16:11 “In Your presence there is fullness of joy; At your right hand there’s pleasures forever more.”

Psalm 5.:3 .” In the morning lord you hear my voice In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly “

Psalms 51;10 “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Isaiah: Root yourself in God’s promises

A promise is a reason to expect in the future

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to endure it.”

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will… Fully supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Jesus.”

Jesus: Root yourself in God’s purpose

Romans 8:28 8 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

Matthew 11, verse 28, he says, listen: “Come to me, like, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” What do you mean learn from me? Like, look at the life of Jesus. Learn his pace, learn his Sabbath, learn his rest, learn how he depends on God, learn from him, “…for I am gentle and I’m humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

John 16:33 says this, it says, “In this world you actually will have trouble. But friend, take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and who have been called according to his purpose.”

Hebrews 12:2, he just says things like this, he just says, listen, “For the joy set before him, he endured the cross.”

3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Prayer

“God, use My circumstances to bring Joy in the journey. Allow me to be rooted in Your presence”
