Would you rather?
- Would you rather find a million dollars or find true love?
- Would you rather have legs as long as fingers or fingers as long as legs?
- Would you rather win a million dollars or have your best friend win ten million dollars?
- Would you rather use sandpaper as toilet paper or hot sauce as eye drops?
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and
gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. Timothy 6:11
“But you”
“Man of God”
- Remember who you are. You are a man or woman of God. For better or worse, how other people label us is often how we identify ourselves

“Flee from all (of) this.”
- Paul is saying: the very thing that everyone else is running towards—that’s what you need to run from.
- Question: How do you flee from something that surrounds you?
- “…and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.”
Lesson to Paul and Timothy, and us:
- We are not just called to flee but we are called to pursue!
- Timothy, takes off running.” Okay, what am I doing? “Well, you’re running away from something, but you’re chasing after something.
- It’s both.“
Take Home:
Don’t define Christian life by the restrictions; define it by what you’re chasing after, by what you’re working towards.
Why? Because, what you chase after, becomes what you desire .
Understand, it is more about who you are than what you do.
Understand, choosing a path of wisdom is not just running away; it’s more about what you’re chasing after. It’s more about what you’re pursuing, than what you’re fleeing from.
Luke 9: “If you want to come after Me, then you deny yourself…” You say no to yourself. “…and you follow…take up a cross and you follow Me”
