God designed us to enjoy people and to use things.
But, we live in a society that uses people and enjoys things
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we wrought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” Timothy. 6:-6-8
God wants us to move toward contentment
1.) Trust God completely
“ But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
Contentment. “Money can’t buy it and poverty can’t provide it.”
“Be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” Hebrews 13:5,6
“Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” Proverbs 30:8-9
Remember, this life is temporary.
“For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.”. Job said, “Naked I came into this world
and naked I will leave.” 1 Timothy 6:7
“Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:15
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19
Be grateful for what you have
- vs 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living
in plenty or in want.” Philippians 4:12-13
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
